What Tests Do I Need to Understand My Fertility?
Fertility tests evaluate your reproductive health to identify any factors that might affect your ability to conceive or carry a healthy pregnancy. At FIV Valencia, we customise diagnoses for every patient, focusing on all aspects related to their fertility.
At FIV Valencia, we recommend completing these exams during your first visit, with results available in less than an hour. Our EDI Diagnostic Study includes a review of medical history, AMH analysis, semen analysis, and 2D and 3D ultrasounds.
- A comprehensive diagnosis is the first crucial step in developing the best treatment plan and in achieving success in Assisted Reproductive treatment.
- In our Individualised Diagnostic Study (EDI), we begin with a thorough review of your medical history and any relevant information about your reproductive health.
- Using a blood test, we measure key hormone levels related to your fertility, such as FSH, LH, estradiol, progesterone, TSH, prolactin, and anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH).
- A gynaecological ultrasound is used to evaluate the health of your ovaries and uterus. We rule out any gynaecological pathologies, examine uterine morphology and receptivity, and assess your ovarian reserve. This includes an antral follicle count (AFC) to determine the number of eggs available for your treatment. In some cases, additional tests, such as genetic exams or an HSG (hysterosalpingography), may be required to check for abnormalities or blockages in the fallopian tubes.
- For heterosexual couples, it is recommended to analyse the male partner’s sperm through a semen analysis. This test measures the number, shape, and movement of sperm to determine any issues with sperm quality or quantity.
Fertility Testing Costs
The cost of fertility tests can vary depending on the specific exams required and individual circumstances. At FIV Valencia, we strive to make the process simple and efficient for you. For this reason, we have designed our Individualised Diagnostic Study (EDI), which includes the essential basic tests, allowing you to have the first results within one hour during your initial visit.
Since infertility can have multifactorial causes, more specialised procedures may be needed for a complete
diagnosis in some cases. These could include genetic tests or a hysteroscopy (uterine endoscopy), which would be an additional cost to the basic tests.
